We recommend choosing a wall area at least 2 metres high and 1 metre wide, with enough clear space in front for your child to shoot comfortably.

Mount the hoop at a height that suits your child’s height and ability, so they can practise confidently and enjoy making shots.

The steel rim attaches securely to the wall with four screws, so drilling is required. The wall mat attaches using Velcro strips. You’ll find step-by-step mounting instructions further down this page.

The SilentBall Hoop features a 38 cm steel rim, suitable for basketball sizes 5, 6 and 7. It can be installed indoors or outdoors.

Why mount it to the wall?

A hoop that takes seconds to hang usually comes down just as fast.

We chose the extra step: mount a steel rim securely to the wall, and give them a hoop worth coming back to. The mat attaches behind it with Velcro strips.

Will it fit in your home? Almost certainly.

The truth is, most rooms are perfectly suitable for the SilentBall Academy Hoop.

As easy as 1-2-3.

Ready in 15 minutes
  1. Pick your spot.

Choose a wall and set the height that suits your child.

  2. Attach the mat.

Stick the wall mat in place with the Velcro strips. It sits flat against the wall.

  3. Mount the rim. Start shooting.

Drill once and fix the steel rim to the wall. It stays put, shot after shot.

Questions before you mount it?

Is this a mini hoop made from plastic?

No. SilentBall Hoop has a 38 cm steel rim that fits basketball sizes 5, 6 and 7. It screws securely into your wall for regular shooting practice. Instead of a rigid plastic backboard, it uses a rubber-and-polyester wall mat attached with Velcro strips.

How do I install the hoop?

Choose your spot and mounting height. Attach the matching Velcro strips to the mat and wall, then position the mat and mark its four mounting holes with a pencil. Remove the mat, drill the holes and insert suitable wall plugs. Place the mat back on the wall, secure the steel rim with four screws, attach the net and start shooting.

Screws and wall plugs are not included. Choose fixings suitable for your wall.

Can I mount it on my wall?

The hoop can be mounted on different wall types, including brick, concrete and plasterboard, provided suitable fixings and support are used. For plasterboard, the rim needs secure structural support, such as wall studs or suitable reinforcement. If you’re unsure, ask a qualified installer to check your wall and recommend the right fixings.

What height should I mount it at?

We recommend choosing a mounting height based on your child’s height, basketball skills and the space available. Start at a height where they can practise comfortably and enjoy making shots, with enough room above the hoop for the ball’s flight.

How much space do I need?

We recommend a wall area at least 2 metres high and 1 metre wide, plus clear space in front for your child to move and shoot comfortably. Keep the shooting area clear of furniture and fragile objects.

Can my child dunk or hang on the rim?

We recommend using the hoop for shooting practice. Avoid dunking that pulls on the rim, and do not hang from it or use it to support body weight.

Does it work with regular basketballs?

Yes! The 38 cm rim fits basketball sizes 5, 6 and 7, including regular basketballs and SilentBall. For quieter practice at home, we recommend using SilentBall.
